A couple of days ago I got to post a review on the soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s latest gem of a movie, The Great Gatsby. Yesterday I got the chance to finally see the movie and it was just as I expected. I really enjoyed the whole 2 hours duration of the movie starring the ever so brilliant and dashing Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton (to name a few). As his previous films (Romeo + Juliet and Moulin Rogue), Mr. Luhrmann’s most recent work have that same grandeur look, epic coloring and amazing setting, as well as properties and not to mention 1920s impressive costumes, designed by –none other than- the house of Prada. Amazingness!
As I watch the first half of the movie, when Jay Gatsby character was about to meet the love of his love, Daisy Buchanan, I was gleefully gushing about Mr. DiCaprio’s adorable performance. I figure that this is as close as Leonardo DiCaprio will ever get to (playing) a romantic comedy. Nonetheless, endearing still, thru and thru… He definitely has grown into this amazing brilliant actor that Hollywood is blessed to own. Also very impressed with the performance of Joel Edgerton, Elizabeth Debicki as Jordan Baker and Carey Mulligan, sad to say that Tobey Maguire didn’t astound me quite as much…
All in all, I really really really enjoyed the movie. I can’t wait to see it again… and again… and again.
So shall we?
9.5/10.
Close to a perfect ten, dare I say?
… and if it gets rough, its time to get rough.

i have no words to describe the amazingness of this motion picture soundtrack. totally lost for words. i haven’t watch the movie, (but i am so dying to see it, hopefully soon), yet i am already finding myself gushing over the songs from the movie.
i have always been a great fan of movies since i was a little girl, that is why some of my favorite albums of all times are OST of movies that i also enjoy (mostly). this inspires me to make a post soon regarding my most favorite movie soundtrack records of all times. which this album is clearly climbing up fast on that list.
the songs in this album are just brilliant! i always have a thing for Baz Luhrmann’s movies and their soundtracks: Moulin Rouge and not to forget Romeo + Juliet.
I love. I love. I love.
there is not a song in this album that i don’t love… my personal favorite must be the SBTRKT remix of Florence + The Machine’s Over the Love (of you). adoraaaa!
all in all, am just so enjoying this remarkable album <3
“While we acknowledge, as Fitzgerald phrased it, ‘the Jazz Age,’ and this is the period represented on screen, we — our audience — are living in ‘the Hip-Hop Age’ and want our viewers to feel the impact of modern-day music the way Fitzgerald did for the readers of his novel at the time of its publication.”
LOVE THIS FASHION SPREAD A LOT.
plus it’s Cara D. there’s no stopping to this girl! :))
